Oldfield Smith & Co are delighted to have been crowned Best New Business in the 2104 Uckfield Business Awards.
At a gala event, held last night (6 November) at the East Sussex National Golf Club, awards in a total of 12 categories were handed out covering a series of specialisations ranging from Business Person of the Year (where our very own Bernard Smith was a runner-up) to Best Rural Business. The winners were announced throughout the night with the results being a closely guarded secret beforehand.
With the wealth of talent and corporate experience in the town, competition within each category was keen and the judges consistently remarked on how difficult it had been to choose a single winner. Bearing in mind the challenges posed by the recession, it really was tremendous to see so many companies and individuals not only trade through those difficult times, but retain an entrepreneurial spirit and continue to innovate.
For us, Uckfield has always been a place where business acumen goes hand in hand with community spirit; a rare mix in a town and something we love and cherish. Since we started the business, the level of support, good wishes and help we have received from our many friends and colleagues in the town has been overwhelming and that makes this award so special.
We often describe starting our business as a humbling experience because our own success goes hand in hand with the success of our clients and is entirely dependent on their faith in us. That’s why this award means so much to us.
