Heathfield High Street shop now let

2nd October 2020

Oldfield Smith & Co have now let 62 High Street, Heathfield.  This self contained shop on two levels drew interest from prospective tenants even before the previous lease expired and we were able to negotiate a letting which took effect immediately after possession was gained from the outgoing tenant.

Our work in relation to the property also included preparing and serving a schedule of dilapidations on the outgoing tenant and negotiating settlement of the claim.

The new occupier is an established local business, but we always allow tenants to make their own announcements about their businesses and when they will open, so we wont steal their thunder by giving anything away in advance!  However, we can say that they will be starting to fit out shortly and are hoping to be trading in the next few weeks.

Despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic, we are seeing very strong demand for commercial property right across the region, including continuing interest in retail space.  Retailers are reporting that shoppers are taking advantage of the convenience of smaller towns where parking is more readily available, queues are shorter and social distancing easier to maintain.  Our independent businesses also offer the advantage of knowledgeable and personal service, with many adapting quickly to the changes and opportunities offered by new ways of shopping.

We are urgently seeking new property for registered applicants, so if you have surplus commercial space – shops, offices, warehouses, workshops or land, either for sale or to let – please do get in touch.  We offer informed, professional advice and as Chartered Surveyors, regulated by RICS, we are well placed to ensure you get the best tenants at the best rent!  We offer a FREE commercial appraisal, honest and straightforward advice with no onerous contracts or up-front charges.  Our team would love to hear from you, so why not give them a call on 01825 762222.
