Oldfield Smith & Co were pleased to sponsor the Cancer Research Crowborough Committee summer lunch, held today at the East Sussex National.
This annual event raises much needed funds for the wonderful work Cancer Research carry out in the ongoing fight against this terrible disease. Richard and Bernard were joined by a number of clients and property professionals to listen to a talk by a leading research scientist on the incredibly exciting work being carried out to find new treatments and new ways of fighting cancer in all its forms. This included a very entertaining description of the state of the art Francis Crick Institute in London – a truly inspiring place at the cutting edge of medical science.
And despite the gravity of the subject matter, the lecture was given in good humour with a few scientist jokes thrown in : “how can you tell an extrovert research scientist? – he looks at YOUR shoes when talking to you”.
A very uplifting, informative and positive event, topped of with one of our guests, Peter Chotai of Kamsons Pharmacies, winning a top prize in the charity raffle.
Our thanks to all of our guests for joining us and to the Cancer Research UK Crowborough Committee for organising the event.
